GAFM 2012 Annual Conference Awards
2012 GAFM Outstanding Floodplain Manager of the Year
|"The outstanding Floodplain Manager of the Year Award recognizes the individual efforts of an outstanding City or County Floodplain Manager within the State of Georgia. This year's award recipient is a licensed land surveyor, a certified stormwater inspector and a Certified Floodplain Manager. Jeff Stanley has been described as instrumental in obtaining FEMA's acceptance of the City of Griffin's proposed models using improved 2-foot contours LIDAR and newly flown orthophoto data. This demonstration resulted in FEMA incorporating these models in the City's new dFIRMs. Mr. Stanley's management of the City of griffin's GIS department is a critical component of the floodplain management program. Through the use of Mr. Stanley's GIS knowledge, the City of Griffin can now answer citizens' questions about floodplain and NFIP requirements promptly and professionally. Recently Mr. Stanley has made use of the latest GIS technology and Google Earth so citizens are able to see how the floodplain impacts their property through the internet. Lastly, Mr. Stanley efforts contributed to the City of Griffin obtaining the first CRS Class 5 community in the State of Georgia."|
