The 11th Annual GAFM conference will be held at Lanier Islands. This conference will focus on effective planning and education for sound floodplain management. Conference attendees will hear from subject matter experts from state, local and federal governments, and private sector consultants.
If January’s storms/disaster resulted in damage to structures in a “Special Flood Hazard Area” and the damage is estimated at 50% or more, then these structures must be brought into compliance with the current Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance for a given community. A Substantial Damage Estimate must be prepared for these structures.
What: Substantial Damage Estimates (SDE) class
When: March 7, 2017 @ 9am to 5 pm.
Where:The “Candy Room” located within the Riverfront Resource Center at 125 Pine Avenue, Albany, GA.

Details. Class will include a field visit to a damaged residential structure. Bring appropriate field clothes. The class will consist of a morning session in the classroom. An afternoon session in the field. Then a final classroom session.

GAFM has one full conference/training opportunity in the spring and several small one day workshops during the year.
2015 is an exception because the ASFPM Annual National Conference was held in Atlanta. GAFM did not hold a separate annual conferences during the 2015 year.
