The formation of GAFM is the result of the concerted efforts of numerous individuals and organizations sharing a common desire to forward the cause of sound floodplain management. Membership in GAFM is open to all professionals, public and private entities, students and citizens interested in or involved in floodplain, watershed, stormwater, wetlands and hazard mitigation management and/or related disciplines within the State of Georgia.

Looking to get your CFM certification?  The Georgia Department of Natural Resources will sponsor “L-273 Managing Floodplain Development Through the National Flood Insurance Program”  February 16-19, 2015.  FEMA and Ga-DNR will jointly teach the class.  Ga-DNR will proctor a CFM exam the morning of February 20, 2015 at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in the City of Forsyth.  The exam is scheduled from 9 am – 12 pm.  Deadline to enroll in the class is February 1, 2015 – Thomas.tkacs@dnr.state.ga.us - please use “Attn:L-273” in the subject line.  Separate registration is required for the CFM exam.  CFM exam application materials are available for download at www.floods.org.

The City of Savannah is seeking proposals from consultants to assist city staff in the preparation of a Flood Mitigation Plan, Repetitive Loss Area analysis, and Natural Floodplain Functions Plan. The plan will have to be approved by FEMA. Consultants seeking to submit a proposal need to register on the City of Savannah's website. The request for proposal can be viewed on the purchasing portion of the city's website, under event number 1824.
